Garden Design & Consultations
As a
garden designer I work with my clients to create personal gardens that are
living works of art, a sanctuary for my clients to enjoy with their family and
friends, a garden of rooms that is value adding, enhances and complements their
lifestyle and the architecture of their home.
My priorities are client
relationships, personal service, communication, fulfilling the personal, aesthetic
and functional design requirements and creating for my clients a garden setting
for their home that is an expression of them.
I offer the following services, which can be
tailored to the individual client's needs including the initial consultation,
written report, proposed design concept, developed design with planting plan and
quote for implementation of all design elements, advice on long term maintenance,
plant selection, liaison with contractors on behalf of my
client through the construction stage until completion of their garden.
I also source and supply plants, pots, water features,
garden furniture and accessories and landscaping materials.
At
the initial consultation I offer you advise, guidance and creative problem
solving skills, solutions with options that support your lifestyle and gardening
requirements
When
designing the structural elements and selecting the plants for any
courtyard, commercial, urban, hills or country landscape
situation it involves careful consideration of four main aspects; environmental
conditions; design factors and client requirements and plant requirements and
attributes.
As a gardener I have always had a
thirst for knowledge for all things relating to gardening and plants.
As a youngster I was aware of the therapeutic
value that creating and tending their gardens brought to people as they indulged their
passion for gardening. As I grew so did my realization of the magic that
gardening is.
My journey as a gardener has been peppered
with successes and failures however like life I have learned from these
gardening experiences the how, when, where and why of what makes a garden work
and grow and I offer this experience and knowledge to my clients.
Prior to undertaking formal Horticultural and Garden Design study and training, I had
created and maintained many personal gardens, each a sanctuary for my family,
friends, clients and me.
The acceptance and appreciation of these
gardens that I had created and maintained fuelled my desire for more knowledge
and I undertook studies which saw me graduate with Horticultural Certificate and
Diploma of Garden Design.
In April of 2000 I started the South
Australian Branch of the Mediterranean Garden Society, which has a focus on
sharing information, and promoting water-wise and climate compatible gardens.
As
the inaugural chair of the society, I was selected to represent our branch at
the AGM of the International Mediterranean Society in Palermo, Sicily.
On
that journey I had the opportunity to visit many public and private gardens that
are situated in a Mediterranean climate zone, like we are here in South
Australia.
This work was partially
responsible for my being awarded the Sir Thomas Playford TAFE Study Award.
These
experience opened my eyes and showed me that it is possible to create beautiful
gardens that are water-wise and climate compatible.
It
also impressed upon me the importance of structure and flow in a garden;
working with our environment; creating outdoor rooms as an extension of our
living spaces and of creating a sanctuary for my clients so they can play, rest
and rejuvenate in.
Since
my graduation I have grown my business on giving my clients personal service,
sharing knowledge, offering advise, guidance and creative solutions to their
garden requirements, designing and building gardens for my clients that
are an expression of them, to live in, love and enjoy.
Creating
sanctuary gardens that
support and reflect their lifestyle!
